Privacy policy

Draft. This policy needs review by a qualified data-protection or legal adviser before the live site launches. It is written to cover what RiseWell actually does with personal data, but it has not yet been checked by a solicitor, and placeholders remain where the controller’s details and named processors must be filled in.

This policy explains what personal data RiseWell collects, why, and what rights you have over it. It is written for the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Who we are

RiseWell publishes this website. RiseWell is the trading name of Azemuldin Hussain, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom, who is the data controller for this website. There is no separate data protection officer; for anything covered by this policy, email risewell.men@gmail.com. For anything covered by this policy, use the details on our contact page.

What we collect

• Analytics data: pages viewed, approximate location at country or region level, device and browser type, referring site, and how long you spend on a page.
• Advertising data: where you have consented, our advertising partners may set cookies or similar identifiers to select and measure the ads you see.
• Newsletter data: your email address, the date you subscribed, and basic engagement data such as whether an email was opened or a link clicked.
• Affiliate tracking: when you click a commercial link, the retailer may set a cookie recording that the visit came from us.
• Messages you send us. Your email address and whatever you choose to put in the message.
• Server logs: IP address, request time and user agent, kept briefly for security and troubleshooting.

We do not ask for health information, and you should not send us any. Nothing on this site diagnoses anyone, and we do not build health profiles of readers.

Cookies and consent

Strictly necessary cookies, the ones that make the site work and remember your cookie choice, are set without consent, as the law allows. Everything else, including analytics and advertising cookies, is set only if you agree through the consent banner. You can change or withdraw that choice at any time through the cookie settings link in the footer, and refusing does not limit what you can read.

Advertising

Advertising on this site is served by third-party partners. Where you have consented, those partners may use cookies and identifiers to show and measure advertising, including personalised advertising, and they act as controllers of that data under their own privacy policies. Our advertising partner is Google, through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve advertising based on your visits to this site and other sites, only where you have consented; you can change that choice in the consent banner at any time, opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, and read how Google uses data from partner sites at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Some pages carry no advertising at all: crisis passages, professional-signposting sections, sensitive articles and all shop pages.

Affiliate links

Some links to retailers earn us a commission. Clicking one takes you to the retailer’s own site, where their privacy policy applies and where a cookie may record that you arrived from RiseWell. We receive only aggregate reporting: how many purchases followed our links, not who made them. How this works commercially is set out on How we’re funded.

The newsletter

We email you only if you ask us to. Consent is the lawful basis, subscription is confirmed by a double opt-in, and every email carries a one-click unsubscribe. We do not sell, rent or share the list. Unsubscribing removes you from the mailing list; we keep a minimal suppression record so you are not added again by mistake. Sign-ups are currently stored on this website’s own server. If we move the list to an email service provider, we will name it here before any email is sent from it.

Lawful bases

• Consent: analytics and advertising cookies, and the newsletter.
• Legitimate interests: keeping the site secure and available, and replying to messages you send us.
• Legal obligation, where we must keep records or respond to a lawful request.

How long we keep it

• Server logs: a short rolling window, typically no more than 30 days.
• Analytics: retained in aggregate; identifiers expire according to the analytics provider’s settings, no longer than 14 months.
• Newsletter: until you unsubscribe, plus a minimal suppression record.
• Messages: as long as needed to deal with the matter, then deleted.

Sharing and international transfers

We share personal data only with the service providers that run the site, the analytics, the advertising and the mailing list, and only so far as they need it. Some of those providers operate outside the UK; where they do, transfers are covered by UK adequacy regulations or by the International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum. We do not sell personal data.

Your rights

You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing already carried out. To exercise any of these, contact us through the contact page. We respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, or on 0303 123 1113.

Children

This site is written for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal data we will update this page and change the date below. Material changes will be flagged on the site.
